An Event Organiser from Bristol City Council said: 'I just
wanted to say a big thank you to you for your input into this years
Bristol Harbour Festival. It was another good year, despite the
rain … we still had a vast attendance and the public feedback has
been very positive so far.'
First aiders treated 70 patients with 12
being treated and taken to hospital. Casualties were treated
for things including fractures, dislocations, allergic reactions,
cuts and wounds and seizures.
St John Ambulance Duty Manager, Rob Christian said: 'This
is one of our largest community events of the year. Over the three
day period our members worked hard to ensure all patients received
the care they deserve, working for up to 12 hours each day.
'The event can be unpredictable depending on the weather, which
means we have to be prepared at all times for the expected 250,000
spectators.
'During this event a wide variety of incidents and injuries can
occur and we also assist the NHS by answering their emergency calls
within the area of the site, ensuring a prompt and effective
response to all incidents.'
