About us

The West Midlands is one of the largest
and most active St John Ambulance counties. We train in first
aid; for work, at school, or simply because it is great to have the
knowledge to know what to do in an emergency.
Our course portfolio includes first aid courses for every situation, but also
covers a range of health and safety and fire marshal
training.
What we do
Our 1234 adult volunteers
provide first aid cover at all-but-one of the league football
clubs in the West Midlands:
- Aston Villa
- Coventry City
- Walsall
- Birmingham City
- Wolverhampton
Edgbaston Cricket Ground and the Worcester Warriors home games
are amongst our public duties, along with major civic
events, such as:
- the Godiva festival
- Wolverhampton Marathon
- the Frankfurt Christmas Market
- the Tough Guy endurance event.
Our transport
crews undertake contract work for the many NHS trusts throughout the region as well
as other organisations such as care homes. All the monies raised
through our first aid training and contract transport work helps to
support our voluntary first-aid provision and youth work.
We have over 60 youth units, providing
around 1,100 young people between the ages of five and 18
development opportunities including camping, adventurous
activities, social development and first aid training. Our new
youth programme has over 100 different badge subjects available,
and puts youth participation at the heart of what we do.
Our County HQ is based in the centre of Birmingham and we have
training centres across the county. Our fleet of
over 39 ambulances includes 4x4 vehicles used in the
rough terrain at our many events around the region.
