Patient transport

St John Ambulance Patient Transport Service makes healthcare accessible to all by offering a safe means of transport between hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and any other destination a patient may need to visit.

Patients’ safety, comfort and dignity are our main concerns and, as such, many of our vehicles allow a friend or carer to accompany the patient on their journey. Our friendly and efficient operational staff transport more than 3,000 patients every year. They are all highly experienced, qualified to national standards and dedicated to offering the best possible care.

Based in Devizes, Wiltshire we are well-placed to access all locations in England and are able to offer patients a broad range of transport options, whether this be for one-way, wait and return, or regularly scheduled trips, including:

  • Transport to/from hospitals, nursing homes and private addresses
  • Specialist transport and support for bedridden patients and those on stretchers,  trollies or wheelchairs
  • Medical repatriation
  • Outpatient visits of all types (including dialysis)

Our ambulances are fitted with the latest equipment and, in the event of any problems during the journey, our ambulance crews can respond immediately with the best possible emergency care.  All crew members receive regular rigorous training and are highly qualified in first aid, the use of defibrillators and the administration of oxygen and medical gases for pain relief.

We offer competitive rates and, as a registered non-profit making charity, we believe in using any money we make to benefit the community. All surplus proceeds from our activities are used to support the charitable work of our organisation, benefiting patient welfare and communities throughout Wiltshire.
