About the Role
St John’s Gate, dating from 1504, was the main gatehouse to the Priory of the Order of St John, on the edge of the City of London. The Order was founded in the 11th Century to care for sick pilgrims; its modern role supports St John Ambulance, the international first aid charity. St John’s Gate now houses the Museum of the Order of St John and a series of spectacularly beautiful historic rooms with unique and idiosyncratic histories. It also owns the Priory Church of the Order of St John with its celebrated Norman crypt and glorious garden.
As Client Relationship Executive, you will support the Museum Events Manager to develop and deliver the events strategy for the historic rooms at St John’s Gate, ensuring that sales and profit targets are realised. You will be responsible for demonstrating the highest standards of client care, venue presentation, contractor liaison and after sales service. You will also have experience of driving new events business, establishing effective marketing campaigns, delivering seamless experiences for clients and completing administrative tasks to the highest standards.
All surplus made from the hire of the historic rooms at St John directly supports the work of the Museum and St John Ambulance, which works at the heart of communities, providing first aid, keeping people safe at events and working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls. You will have responsibility for demonstrating the highest standards of client care, venue presentation, contractor liaison and provision of after sales service. You will ideally have experience of driving new events business, establishing effective marketing campaigns and delivering seamless experiences for clients.
Working alongside the Museum Events Manager, you will set and control departmental and individual event budgets.
You will have experience of formulating new business development opportunities, managing sales enquiries and producing costed event proposals on behalf of potential clients whilst negotiating advantageous terms with suppliers.
Experience of working within a busy sales environment is essential, as is driving new business and managing sales opportunities whilst maintaining strong relationships with third party contractors and suppliers.
Experience working in museums, historic buildings or cultural venues would be advantageous.
There will be occasional requirements to work evenings, early mornings and bank holidays to meet with clients and steward events, for which you will earn TOIL or overtime payments.
